Kesha Launches Smash Platform for Music Creators

Singer-songwriter Kesha has launched Smash, a new platform designed to empower music creators. The community-based platform aims to connect artists, foster collaboration, and protect their creative rights.

Announced via Instagram, Smash aligns with the mission of Kesha's recently launched record label, Kesha Records. Both ventures prioritize artist control and ownership.

Empowering Artists Through Collaboration and Protection

Kesha's vision for Smash is to provide a safe and supportive space for music makers of all kinds. The platform will facilitate connections, enable collaboration on projects, and ensure creators retain full rights to their work.

“I want a place where artists and music makers of any kind can have community, they can collaborate, they can hire each other and retain all the rights to everything they create,” Kesha said in an interview with WIRED. “There’s no gatekeeping of contacts.”

Kesha described Smash as a "LinkedIn for music creators" or a "Fiverr-style marketplace" with a crucial difference: prioritizing artist rights at every stage.

Experienced Tech Leadership

Leading the technical development of Smash is CTO Alan Cannistraro. Cannistraro brings extensive experience from Apple, where he worked on early iOS apps, and Facebook, where he developed the Year-In-Review feature. He also founded the social video platform Rheo.

With Smash, Kesha aims to revolutionize the music industry by putting power back into the hands of artists. The platform promises to be a valuable resource for musicians seeking connection, collaboration, and protection of their creative work.
