Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil a significantly enhanced Siri assistant, powered by Google's advanced Gemini artificial intelligence models, as early as the second half of February. This highly anticipated update, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, marks the first tangible outcome of the recently announced AI partnership between Apple and Google.

Gurman's report suggests that this new iteration of Siri will finally deliver on the ambitious promises Apple made in June 2024 regarding its generative AI capabilities. The updated assistant is expected to perform complex tasks by accessing users' personal data and on-screen content, offering a more integrated and intelligent experience.

This February announcement is anticipated to precede an even more substantial upgrade planned for Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. This future version of Siri is envisioned to be more conversational, akin to popular chatbots like ChatGPT, and could potentially operate directly on Google's robust cloud infrastructure.

The move comes amidst previous reports indicating Apple's struggles to solidify its AI strategy. Gurman himself noted that Apple's Mike Rockwell had previously dismissed earlier reports about the company's AI challenges. However, with the strategic partnership with Google and the recent departure of former AI chief John Giannandrea, it appears Apple has indeed charted a decisive new course for its artificial intelligence endeavors.
