Google Photos has launched its highly anticipated 2025 year-end Recap, offering users a personalized look back at their most cherished memories, much like the popular Spotify Wrapped. This year, the Recap is significantly enhanced by Google's advanced AI, Gemini, which intelligently identifies and highlights personal hobbies and key moments from your photo collection.

While the Google Photos Recap feature debuted in 2024, tapping into the trend of data-driven annual reviews popularized by services like Timehop and Spotify Wrapped, the 2025 edition marks a significant integration with Gemini. Google is leveraging its powerful AI models to delve into users' photo archives, understanding the context of images to surface deeper insights. This includes identifying a user's "one true passion" and the top four highlights that truly "made their year."

Beyond AI-curated highlights, the 2025 Recap introduces new photo statistics, such as a total selfie count, alongside existing metrics like overall photo count and frequently featured individuals. Users also gain more control, with the ability to hide specific people or photos and regenerate their Recap for a more personalized experience.

Sharing your year's memories is now more seamless than ever. The Recap allows for easy sharing across social media platforms. A new integration provides a direct export button to the popular photo and video editing app, CapCut, enabling further customization with Google Photos templates. Additionally, a dedicated carousel at the end of the Recap offers shareable short videos, photos, and collages, including a direct option to post to WhatsApp Status.

For those who don't immediately see their 2025 Recap, Google Photos offers an option at the top of the app to generate it on demand. Once viewed, the Recap remains accessible throughout December, found either within the Memories carousel or pinned in the Collections tab.

Google Photos also plans to release additional 2025 highlights throughout December, complementing the comprehensive annual review.
