Addressing a deeply personal and often confusing health concern, MyHair AI, a new startup, is leveraging artificial intelligence to revolutionize how individuals diagnose and manage hair loss. Co-founded by serial entrepreneur Cyriac Lefort, the platform offers an innovative solution that analyzes scalp photos, tracks hair health evolution, and connects users with scientifically validated clinics and treatments, aiming to bring much-needed transparency to the complex $50-billion hair health market.

The Genesis of MyHair AI: A Personal Revelation

The inspiration for MyHair AI struck Cyriac Lefort, 32, two years ago during a routine haircut in New York. His hairdresser casually remarked that he was starting to lose hair. Lefort, a French native, recalls the moment vividly. "He didn’t say that to my friend sitting next to me, just to me," Lefort recounted. "In my mind, I wasn’t balding, and I still don’t think I am. But when someone tells you you’re losing your hair, you buy whatever they suggest."

Lefort purchased the recommended shampoo, but the interaction sparked a realization: the hair loss industry is rife with misinformation and unverified claims, often preying on the emotional vulnerability of individuals. He later consulted a hair doctor who confirmed he was, in fact, not balding. This personal experience propelled Lefort to create an AI-powered product that could provide accurate diagnoses and reliable guidance, cutting through the industry's noise.

How MyHair AI Works: Precision Diagnosis and Personalized Care

Lefort, a seasoned entrepreneur who has successfully exited one company and currently runs two others with Tilen Babnik, 28, teamed up with Babnik to build MyHair AI. The duo rapidly developed the product, which operates simply: users upload photos of their scalp to the MyHair app. The integrated AI technology then meticulously analyzes these images to measure hair density and detect early signs of hair loss.

Over time, as users upload more photos, the AI tracks the progression of their hair loss, enabling the creation of highly personalized hair protection routines. Beyond diagnosis, the platform also helps users find specialists and discover clinics through verified reviews, safeguarding them from potential scams.

"Our AI tells you what’s really happening with your hair, matches you with products that actually make sense for your hair type, and explains the science behind them, including possible side effects," Lefort stated. "By bringing transparency and medical accuracy to this $50-billion market, we believe we can completely reorganize how people understand, treat, and shop for hair health."

Rapid Development and Impressive Traction

The journey to launch MyHair AI involved approximately a year of ideation, a few weeks of "vibe coding" on Cursor for the initial prototype, several months of scientific and clinical validation, and additional weeks dedicated to building the consumer app. The company officially launched this summer. Lefort noted the speed of development, highlighting how "vibe coding" allowed them to build the initial prototype without hiring engineers, who now ensure the product's scalability and robustness. This exemplifies the rapid prototyping capabilities available to startups today.

MyHair AI has quickly gained significant traction, boasting over 1,000 paying subscribers and 200,000 user accounts. The app has analyzed more than 300,000 scalp photos to date. The company has also forged partnerships that grant specialists and clinics access to the MyHair AI platform, allowing them to evaluate their own patients more efficiently. Further bolstering its credibility, MyHair AI recently announced that renowned dermatologist Dr. Tess Mauricio has joined its board.

A Distinct Competitive Edge and Future Vision

While other players exist in the market, such as Hims, Lefort asserts that MyHair AI stands apart due to its dedicated AI model. Unlike solutions that might rely on more generic large language models (LLMs), MyHair AI's proprietary model was specifically trained on over 300,000 hair images to diagnose baldness, ensuring a higher degree of accuracy and specialization.

Looking ahead, MyHair AI is focused on expansion, with plans to build a comprehensive booking platform and partner with an even wider network of clinics. Lefort’s vision is to build "real-world" AI that directly addresses significant human concerns. "Men worry about two things in their health, sexual dysfunction and hair loss," Lefort concluded. "We address one of the biggest day-to-day concerns."
