Plaud, a prominent hardware manufacturer, has expanded its suite of artificial intelligence-powered productivity tools with the launch of the new Plaud NotePin S and a dedicated desktop application for online meetings. These innovations were unveiled ahead of this year's Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, signaling Plaud's ambition to capture both in-person and virtual meeting transcription markets.
Introducing the Plaud NotePin S: AI Notetaker for On-the-Go
Building on the success of its initial pin-styled notetaker, which garnered positive reviews, the new Plaud NotePin S is designed for seamless, on-the-go recording. Priced at $179, this compact AI device introduces a physical button that allows users to effortlessly start and stop recordings. A key enhancement is the ability to tap the button during recording to highlight specific points—a feature also found in the recently launched Plaud Note Pro.
The NotePin S package offers versatility in how it can be worn, including a clip, lanyard, magnetic pin, and wristband. For added convenience, Plaud has integrated Apple Find My support, enabling users to easily locate the device if misplaced.
Technical Specifications and User Benefits
The core specifications of the NotePin S largely mirror its predecessor, featuring 64GB of onboard storage and a battery capable of 20 hours of continuous recording. Equipped with two MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) microphones, the device can capture clear audio from a range of up to 9.8 feet. Users also benefit from 300 minutes of free transcription each month.
While the NotePin S offers a shorter recording range and slightly less battery life compared to the Note Pro, its smaller form factor and diverse carrying accessories make it ideal for individuals who are constantly moving. Plaud emphasizes that the pin is specifically tailored for users requiring portable and discreet recording capabilities.
Plaud's New Desktop App: Conquering Online Meetings
With a strong foundation in in-person meeting solutions, Plaud is now setting its sights on the online meeting transcription market. The company has introduced a new desktop client designed to compete with established players like Granola, Fathom, and Fireflies. This application seamlessly integrates with various meeting platforms, intelligently detecting when a meeting is active and prompting users to capture the transcript.
The Mac version of the app leverages system audio to record meetings, then employs advanced AI to structure the transcription into coherent notes. Expanding on functionality introduced last year, the desktop app also supports multimodal inputs, allowing users to enrich their audio transcriptions with images and typed notes, creating comprehensive meeting summaries.
Plaud's Growth and Vision
The Plaud NotePin S marks the company's fourth device launch, contributing to an impressive sales record of over 1.5 million devices to date. While Plaud's previous focus primarily centered on enhancing in-person meeting productivity, the introduction of the desktop app signifies a strategic expansion into the rapidly growing sector of virtual collaboration. This dual launch reinforces Plaud's commitment to providing versatile, AI-driven notetaking solutions for a wide range of professional environments.
