AMC has unveiled initial details and exclusive clips for its upcoming dark comedy series, "The Audacity," offering a satirical look into the lives of the individuals shaping our world from the heart of Silicon Valley. Created by Jonathan Glatzer, known for his acclaimed work on dramas like "Succession," "Better Call Saul," and "Bloodline," the show promises a sharp, humorous, and critical examination of the tech industry's profound influence, including areas like artificial intelligence and data collection.
The series was previewed at CES 2026, where Dan McDermott, Chief Content Officer at AMC Networks and President of AMC Studios, emphasized the significance of the show's setting during the Variety Entertainment Summit.
"They’re literally laying the cement on the freeway that we’re all driving down with things like AI, data collection, social media, etc. And there couldn’t be any more important group, in my opinion, to be taking a deep-dive look at than the men and women in Silicon Valley who are shaping the lives that we live," McDermott stated.
Actor Billy Magnussen, one of the show's stars, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the era's defining nature.
"Silicon Valley is one of those times in our modern era which is defining humanity. And what better place to make a dark comedy than in that place that develops our society at this point?" Magnussen noted.
The series boasts a talented ensemble cast including Billy Magnussen, Sarah Goldberg, Zach Galifianakis, Simon Helberg, and Rob Corddry. While "The Audacity" is set in a fictional universe, deliberately avoiding real company names or high-profile tech cameos, it aims to strike familiar chords with its portrayal of the industry's impact.
Simon Helberg's character, for instance, is depicted as a maladjusted genius developing an AI therapy app for teenagers, despite being a recluse himself and neglecting his own teenage daughter. Helberg elaborated on the show's deeper themes, suggesting a common thread among its characters.
"There’s loneliness, I think, at the heart of all the characters, and they’re all trying to connect, and they’re trying to connect through technology, which has some pitfalls," Helberg explained.
Attendees at CES 2026 were treated to two exclusive clips from the show, though recording was prohibited. In one scene, an enthusiastic Magnussen pitches an unresponsive Galifianakis, who eventually cuts him off by stabbing his hand with a fork while eating at a restaurant. The second clip showcased Helberg's character completely missing an opportunity to relate to his daughter, instead using her expression of annoyance to train his AI.
"The Audacity" is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, April 12, on AMC and AMC+.
