Berlin-based startup Peec AI has successfully raised a $21 million Series A funding round, positioning itself at the forefront of a rapidly evolving digital landscape where consumers are increasingly turning to AI platforms like ChatGPT for product discovery, rather than traditional search engines like Google. This significant investment underscores the growing importance of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)—a new field Peec AI champions to help brands maintain visibility and control in this fast-growing AI search channel.

Funding Success and Rapid Growth

Led by European VC firm Singular, this Series A comes just four months after Peec AI's Seed round, which was led by 20VC. While CEO Marius Meiners declined to disclose the exact valuation, he confirmed it has tripled and now stands above $100 million.

The impressive funding reflects Peec AI's rapid ascent, having achieved over $4 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) within just ten months of its launch. The platform currently serves 1,300 companies and agencies, a number that continues to grow by approximately 300 new customers each month.

Pioneering Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)

Peec AI offers a comprehensive dashboard that enables marketing teams to monitor and optimize their brand's presence in AI-powered search results. Beyond basic analytics on visibility and ranking, the platform tracks sentiment and identifies the sources that influence AI-generated answers. These critical insights empower brands to implement effective Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategies, mirroring the role of SEO for traditional search engines but adapted for the nuances of AI.

Strategic Expansion and Competitive Edge

With the new capital, which also saw participation from Antler, Combination VC, identity.vc, and S20, Peec AI plans to accelerate its growth and expand its team. The company aims to hire around 40 new employees in the next six months, primarily based in Berlin. Meiners, who co-founded Peec AI with CTO Tobias Siwonia and CRO Daniel Drabo after meeting them in Antler’s Winter 2024 cohort, also revealed plans to open a sales-focused office in New York City in the second quarter of next year. To attract top talent, the 20-person startup is currently running extensive outdoor advertising campaigns across Germany’s capital.

As the Generative Engine Optimization category emerges, competition is intensifying, with players like New York-based Profound and Austrian startup OtterlyAI already in the market. Peec AI aims to differentiate itself by offering a user-friendly dashboard that expands in scope while maintaining simplicity, despite the dynamic nature of AI searches. Unlike traditional SEO tools that revolve around keywords, Peec AI’s dashboard centers on specific prompts for which brands want to appear prominently in search results. Customers can track up to 25 prompts for €75 per month ($87) or 100 prompts for €169 per month ($196), with enterprise offerings starting at €424 per month ($493). Both standard plans include free trials.

Actionable Insights and Proprietary Data

A key feature of the dashboard is its ability to suggest actionable steps to improve visibility and foster positive sentiment. For example, if a company aims to be the top answer for a query like “the best CRMs for fast-growing companies,” Peec AI might recommend joining relevant subreddit discussions on Reddit. This ties into Peec AI’s core ‘source insights,’ which guide users’ content strategies. The startup has observed that mentions in lesser-known publications with headlines closely matching the original question can sometimes yield more visibility in AI searches than articles from tier-1 media outlets, illustrating the unique dynamics of AI content ranking.

Leading companies such as Axel Springer, Chanel, n8n, ElevenLabs, and TUI are already leveraging Peec AI’s tools as AI searches gain traction across both B2C and B2B sectors. Behind the scenes, Peec AI’s proprietary data pipeline is crucial for its success. CEO Marius Meiners explained,

“We have to filter all these out to really get the questions that people ask around brands or purchases and products and services.”
This complex process of acquiring and refining raw datasets of AI requests highlights that the AI value chain extends beyond just models, with the application layer and underlying data becoming a prime territory for innovative European startups like Peec AI.
