Ford is expanding its reach into the online car market by partnering with Amazon Autos, bringing its certified pre-owned vehicles to the e-commerce giant's platform. This collaboration marks a significant expansion for Amazon Autos, which initially launched last year focusing solely on new car sales with Hyundai.

Announced by Ford, the partnership allows customers to browse, finance, and purchase certified pre-owned Ford vehicles directly through Amazon Autos. Crucially, this initiative maintains the vital role of local dealerships. Shoppers can view inventory from participating dealers, complete most of the necessary paperwork online, and then schedule a convenient time to pick up their chosen vehicle.

To instill confidence in online used car purchases, Ford states that all certified pre-owned vehicles sold by dealers on Amazon Autos come with a money-back guarantee. Customers have the option to return their vehicle within 14 days or after driving 1,000 miles, whichever milestone is reached first.

The Amazon Autos platform itself mirrors the familiar functionality of the broader Amazon e-commerce ecosystem. Buyers can easily search for available vehicles by specific criteria such as model, trim, color, and features. The site also facilitates securing financing and electronically signing all required paperwork.

While Amazon Autos launched last year with a focus on new car sales, primarily with Hyundai, the addition of Ford's certified pre-owned lineup diversifies its market presence. This move taps into the growing demand for reliable used vehicles purchased through convenient online channels.

Initially, certified pre-owned Ford vehicles will be available on Amazon Autos in select markets, including Los Angeles, Seattle, and Dallas, with plans for broader expansion likely to follow.
