LinkedIn's push for profile verification is gaining significant momentum in 2025, with India leading the charge as the fastest-growing market. This initiative aims to bolster trust and authenticity across the professional networking platform, which has seen over 100 million members add at least one verification to their profiles. The rapid adoption, particularly in India, underscores the evolving landscape of digital work and the increasing demand for verifiable professional identities.

Accelerating Verification Adoption

The platform is currently adding approximately 30 million verifications annually, marking a year-over-year adoption increase of over 38% in 2025, according to Oscar Rodriguez, LinkedIn's vice-president of trust products. This surge follows a recent announcement that the total number of users with at least one verification has surpassed the 100 million milestone.

LinkedIn first introduced profile verification in 2022 to provide clearer signals of authenticity on the platform. It initially focused on confirming members’ workplace or identity, including through company email addresses, before expanding to government-issued ID checks. The program has since been extended to company pages and job listings, creating a more secure and transparent environment.

A majority of verified LinkedIn members, about 60%, have confirmed their association with a workplace, typically utilizing a company email address or similar credentials. Roughly 27% have opted to verify their personal identity using a government-issued ID, Rodriguez noted, indicating a diverse approach to establishing authenticity on the platform.

India's Remarkable Growth in Verification

Geographically, the United States currently holds the largest share of verified users, accounting for about 40% of the over 100 million members who have added at least one verification. India, however, has emerged as LinkedIn's fastest-growing market for profile verification, with adoption soaring by approximately 80% over the past 12 months. This rapid growth positions India closely behind the U.S. and alongside other major markets such as the U.K., Canada, Brazil, and France in terms of overall verified users.

India is already one of LinkedIn's largest and most rapidly expanding user bases globally, boasting over 160 million users. The acceleration of verification adoption in the country mirrors broader trends in professional networking, hiring, and remote work facilitated by the platform. This trend highlights India's increasing influence on LinkedIn's global usage patterns and the future of digital professional interactions.

Expanding Verification's Reach and Impact

Beyond its own platform, LinkedIn is actively extending the utility of its verification signals. Earlier this year, the Microsoft-owned company launched its “Verified on LinkedIn” program, enabling partner platforms to display LinkedIn verification badges. Zoom recently joined partners like Adobe and G2 in this initiative. Furthermore, LinkedIn has introduced a self-serve API, simplifying the integration of its verification services for other organizations.

Profile verification is strongly linked to enhanced engagement on LinkedIn. Verified members reportedly experience up to 60% more profile views and approximately 50% more interaction on their posts compared to unverified users. Similarly, verified company pages attract significantly more attention, demonstrating higher views and follower growth, according to the company.
