YouTube is rolling out two significant updates designed to empower creators and enhance the viewing experience for its global audience. The video platform is introducing new options for its "Hype" program, aimed at further promoting rising creators, alongside new "Members-only" and "Public" content filters to help subscribers easily find exclusive content.
Amplifying Emerging Talent with New Hype Posts
YouTube's existing Hype program allows users to support eligible videos by allocating "Hype points," which can be purchased within the app. This allocation helps increase the visibility and exposure of these videos across the platform.
Building on this, YouTube is now adding a new feature that allows users who have "Hyped" a clip to further highlight that video in a separate public post. This new option enables viewers to share their favorite Hyped content directly to their channel's community tab and posts section, providing an additional layer of promotion for emerging creators.
This new functionality acts as an "amplification of Hype," offering an extra boost beyond the initial Hype points. It provides more ways for viewers to champion content from rising creators, leveraging their own presence to bring more attention to deserving videos.
In addition to these new posts, YouTube has also launched Hype leaderboards across various topic categories, such as gaming and beauty. These leaderboards will help viewers discover new and trending creators based on their interests.
While the Hype program is still expanding and not yet available in all regions (a full list of available regions can be found here), YouTube is gradually rolling it out to more locations. Currently, Hype features are primarily available on mobile, with desktop support expected in the future.
New Filters for Members-Only Content
On another front, YouTube is introducing new "Members only" and "Public" filters for videos, Shorts, and live-streams directly on channel content tabs. This update provides a crucial new option for users to find relevant content more efficiently.
Previously, viewers could only sort content by "Latest," "Popular," and "Oldest." The addition of these new filters significantly improves content discovery, especially for paying subscribers.
“The members filter helps members quickly find the content they've purchased, and the public filter displays only public content, excluding members-only content, allowing all viewers to easily browse content they have access to.”
For those who subscribe to channels for exclusive content, these new filters offer a much-needed streamlined way to access their paid-for videos, Shorts, and live-streams. This enhancement is a valuable addition for channels looking to improve the experience for their loyal, paying audience.
