Glīd, a pioneering logistics infrastructure company, has been crowned the winner of Startup Battlefield 2025 at TechCrunch Disrupt. CEO and founder Kevin Damoa led his team to victory, developing innovative hardware and software solutions designed to simplify and streamline the complex process of container shipment, particularly the crucial transition from road to rail. Damoa recently shared insights into Glīd's journey and future plans on TechCrunch's "Build Mode" podcast.

From Military Logistics to Startup Success

Damoa's inspiration for Glīd stemmed directly from his firsthand experiences as a new enlistee in the U.S. Army. Tasked with loading tanks and Bradley fighting vehicles onto railroads, he quickly recognized the inherent challenges of moving large cargo. While railways offered an alternative to congested roads, they presented their own set of problems, primarily the intricate, multi-step process required to transfer freight between road and rail networks.

Fast forward to 2025, Damoa found himself on the TechCrunch Disrupt stage, holding the coveted giant check after outperforming 200 other companies in the prestigious Startup Battlefield competition. On the "Build Mode" podcast, TechCrunch's platform for builders and entrepreneurs, Damoa elaborated on how Glīd developed its comprehensive hardware and software solution to address the very logistics issues he had encountered years prior. He also delved into the collaborative effort behind ensuring their three simultaneously launched products were ready for a live demonstration on the Disrupt stage.

"Oh that was crazy, making sure the software works," Damoa recounted. "And anybody that knows software knows that it takes an army of people," a luxury Glīd, at its current stage, did not have. However, the immense pressure and the highly public deadline provided the team with an intense focus, driving them to rapidly organize and perfect their offerings.

Glīd's Vision and Future

Fresh off this significant win, Damoa is eager to leverage the momentum and prize money to propel Glīd into its next phase of growth. The company is already initiating a pilot program with Great Plains Industrial Park, and their next product, Glīder, is poised for market launch. To support these ambitious plans, Glīd is actively recruiting for roles across nearly every aspect of the business.

Damoa describes Glīd's hiring as an "organic process," emphasizing an initial "vibe check" and resume review that can swiftly lead to a new team member. This human-centric approach has attracted mission-driven, laser-focused individuals who also prioritize mindfulness. This ethos is perfectly embodied by Damoa himself, who, upon hearing Glīd made the top five in Startup Battlefield, calmly declared, "I'm going to meditate."
