Gmail users across the globe are reporting widespread issues with email misclassification and an influx of spam directly into their primary inboxes. The problems, which began early Saturday morning Pacific Time, have left many struggling with their email organization and security.

According to the official status dashboard for Google Workspace, the service disruption started around 5 AM PT on Saturday. Users have been experiencing both "misclassification of emails in their inbox and additional spam warnings." This means messages typically filtered into Promotions, Social, or Updates tabs are appearing in the main Primary inbox, while legitimate emails from known senders are sometimes flagged as spam.

The issues have prompted numerous complaints on social media platforms. Users have reported that 'all the spam is going directly to my inbox,' with some noting that Gmail's typically robust filters seem 'suddenly completely busted.'

Google has acknowledged the problem and stated, "We are actively working to resolve the issue." The company also advised users to "follow standard best practices when engaging with messages from unknown senders," a general security recommendation.
