YouTube has rolled out its inaugural year-end recap for 2025, offering a comprehensive look at the platform's top global trends and creators, alongside a new personalized summary feature for individual users. This dual release provides valuable insights into the past year's digital landscape and personal viewing habits, marking a significant step for the video-sharing giant.

YouTube's Global Trends Report for 2025

The platform's first-ever global trends report for 2025 highlights top-performing content across various categories. While a detailed U.S. listing is available, YouTube has also released country-specific summaries for markets including Korea, Germany, Mexico, India, France, the Middle East and North Africa, Indonesia, the U.K., Brazil, Japan, and Canada. These reports offer a localized perspective on what captivated audiences worldwide.

In the U.S., YouTube's data confirms MrBeast's continued dominance, marking his sixth consecutive year as the most popular creator. He is joined by other influential figures:

“He’s joined by IShowSpeed, who pushed the limits of livestreams with his 24/7 IRL streams across the country, and CoryxKenshin, whose passionate fan base has purchased hundreds of thousands of copies of his self-published manga series.”

Beyond individual creators, the YouTube Culture and Trends team identified several breakout topics that saw an above-average surge in popularity throughout 2025. These include phenomena like Squid Game, K-Pop Demon Hunters, and Labubu, indicating significant shifts in audience interest. Unlike other categories based purely on content performance, these topics were noted for their rapid growth.

The report also underscores the growing importance of podcasts on YouTube. Podcasts have become a major element of the YouTube experience, and the recap highlights which audio series are successfully boosting their audience through visual accompaniment, demonstrating an evolving content consumption landscape.

Personalized YouTube Recaps

Complementing the global insights, YouTube is rolling out a personalized "Recap" for every user, allowing them to explore their own viewing trends from 2025. Similar to Spotify Wrapped, this feature analyzes watch history to highlight top interests, memorable moments, and most-watched creators, offering a nostalgic look back at individual content consumption.

These personal Recaps are launching today, starting in the U.S. and gradually expanding to other markets. Users can expect an engaging experience:

“You’ll get a set of up to 12 different cards that spotlight your top channels, interests, and even the evolution of your viewing habits, or which personality type you fall into based on the videos you loved to watch!”

This engaging feature will be accessible from the YouTube homepage or under the "You" tab on both mobile and desktop devices, providing a unique and interactive way to revisit one's 2025 YouTube journey and recall key interests from throughout the year.
