Cursor's Parent Company, Anysphere, Raises $900M, Reaching $9.9B Valuation
Anysphere, the company behind the popular AI coding assistant Cursor, has secured a massive $900 million funding round. This latest investment propels the company to a remarkable $9.9 billion valuation.
The funding round was led by returning investor Thrive Capital, with participation from prominent firms like Andreessen Horowitz, Accel, and DST Global. This marks Anysphere's third significant fundraise in less than a year, showcasing its rapid growth and investor confidence.
Cursor's Soaring Growth and Revenue
Cursor has quickly become a leading AI coding assistant, often referred to as a "vibe coder." Its annual recurring revenue (ARR) has been doubling approximately every two months, now surpassing $500 million. This represents a substantial 60% increase from the $300 million ARR reported just a few months prior.
Cursor offers developers flexible pricing options, including a free trial and tiered subscriptions. Individual users can choose between a $20 pro offering and a $40 monthly business subscription. Anysphere is also expanding into the enterprise market, offering licenses for teams at a higher price point.
According to reports, while individual subscriptions initially drove the majority of revenue, the company is now seeing significant growth in enterprise adoption.
Previous Acquisition Interest
Earlier this year, Anysphere reportedly declined acquisition offers from several companies, including OpenAI. OpenAI subsequently acquired another fast-growing AI assistant, Windsurf.
