Expedia Integrates AI Trip Planning with Instagram

Expedia Group has announced new AI-powered travel planning tools, including one that integrates with Instagram. Users can share travel-related Reels with Expedia for personalized trip recommendations. This new feature, Expedia Trip Matching, is currently in beta and launches in June.

Expedia is also enhancing search and discovery by integrating with OpenAI Operator and Microsoft Copilot Actions. These integrations aim to streamline travel planning and booking.

New Tools for Advertisers and Travelers

Expedia unveiled several upgrades for advertisers. These include Enhanced Offsite Targeting via The Trade Desk and a new loyalty program. Destination Marketing Organizations can now sponsor OneKeyCash rewards to incentivize travel.

Expedia Trip Matching leverages the influence of social media on travel decisions. The company cites that nearly two-thirds of travelers use social media for travel inspiration. This tool combines social media trends with the power of generative AI.

“Travelers are now seeking inspiration from everywhere, and it is crucial that advertisers are equipped to reach them at the right moment," said Rob Torres, senior vice president of Expedia Group Advertising. "Expedia Group Advertising partners have more tools than ever to create dynamic content that showcases unforgettable travel experiences.”

Announced at Expedia's Explore event, these features aim to connect travel discussions on AI platforms with actual bookings. The updated AI Agent on the Hotels.com app offers personalized recommendations, real-time pricing, and guest reviews.

Expedia continues to expand its travel media network by moderating travel videos and optimizing engagement. A new collaboration with Beautiful Destinations will enable shoppable travel content. Enhanced Off-site Targeting is also available through a partnership with The Trade Desk.

Finally, new APIs simplify booking cars, activities, travel insurance, and flights for B2B and private label partners. These partners can now access Expedia Group Advertising's Sponsored Listings solution to reach wider audiences.
