FDA Approves First At-Home Cervical Cancer Test
The FDA has granted its first approval for an at-home cervical cancer screening test. Teal Health's Teal Wand allows individuals to collect samples at home and mail them to a lab for testing, providing a convenient alternative to traditional pap smears.
This innovative device aims to address the barriers many face when accessing cervical cancer screenings. As Teal Health CEO Kara Egan stated in a previous interview, "Cervical cancer screenings are a crucial entry point to a woman's health relationship. More than 1 in 4 women are currently behind on this life-saving screening."

Teal Health, backed by investors including Serena Ventures, Chelsea Clinton, Emerson Collective, and Forerunner, recently secured $23 million in funding. This funding supports the development and launch of the Teal Wand.
While cervical cancer was once a leading cause of cancer deaths in women, increased screening and prevention efforts have significantly reduced its impact. The Teal Wand Kit includes the collection device and virtual access to medical providers for result review.
The Teal Wand will be available in California starting in June. This marks a significant step towards increasing access to critical cervical cancer screenings and promoting women's health.
