Bing App Introduces Free AI Video Generation Powered by Sora

Microsoft Bing now offers free AI video generation within its mobile app. This new feature, Bing Video Creator, utilizes OpenAI's powerful Sora model, allowing users to create videos from simple text prompts.

This marks the first time Sora's video generation capabilities are available for free. Previously, access was exclusive to paying OpenAI customers. This free access is provided through Microsoft's partnership with OpenAI.

Currently, Bing Video Creator is only accessible through the Bing mobile app and not yet available on desktop. Video generation times can vary, sometimes taking hours even with the "fast" mode enabled.

How to Use Bing Video Creator

Users logged into a Microsoft account can create up to ten free video clips. After that, each video costs 100 Microsoft Rewards points. These points are earned through activities like Bing searches and Microsoft Store purchases.

Users can queue up to three five-second videos at a time. Currently, video length is fixed. The initial output is in a vertical 9:16 aspect ratio, ideal for platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Horizontal (9:16 - likely meant to be 16:9) video support is planned for the future.

While video generation times can be lengthy, this free access to Sora's powerful AI video generation represents a significant step in making this technology more widely available. To learn more, visit the official Bing Video Creator announcement.
