Google AI Mode Launches in US with Powerful New Features

Google's experimental AI Mode is now available to all users in the United States. Announced at Google I/O 2025, this enhanced search experience builds upon the existing AI Overviews feature, used by over 1.5 billion monthly users. AI Mode allows for complex, multi-part questions and follow-ups, offering a glimpse into the future of search.

Deep Search: Unlocking In-Depth Research

AI Mode introduces Deep Search, a powerful research tool. By issuing hundreds of queries related to your question, Deep Search generates a comprehensive, cited report in minutes. This feature promises to save users hours of research time and is ideal for tasks like comparison shopping for appliances or even summer camps.

AI-Powered Shopping Enhancements

Google is also enhancing AI Mode with new shopping features. A virtual "try it on" option for apparel uses uploaded images to generate realistic visualizations of clothing on users. Another upcoming tool will automatically purchase items on a user's behalf when a specific price is reached.

Personalized and Contextual Results

AI Mode and AI Overviews now utilize a custom version of Gemini 2.5. AI Mode will also offer personalized results based on past searches and connected Google Apps, like Gmail. This allows for more contextual recommendations, such as suggesting events based on upcoming travel plans.

Additional Features Coming Soon

  • Complex Data Analysis: AI Mode will soon support complex data queries in sports and finance, generating visualizations to aid understanding.
  • Project Mariner Integration: This web-interacting agent will streamline tasks like finding affordable concert tickets.
  • Search Live: Launching later this summer, Search Live enables real-time, interactive conversations with the AI based on your phone's camera feed.

Google's AI Mode represents a significant step forward in search technology, offering users more powerful, personalized, and efficient ways to find information. While AI Overviews had initial accuracy issues, Google's continued investment in AI suggests a commitment to refining and expanding these capabilities.
