Google has officially launched Gemini 3 Flash, a faster and more efficient addition to its Gemini 3 model family. This advanced generative AI model is now set as the default experience within the Gemini app and is rolling out globally as the standard for AI Mode in Google Search.

This release builds upon Google's recent Gemini 3 rollout, which previously introduced Gemini 3 Pro in preview and announced Gemini 3 Deep Think as an enhanced reasoning mode.

What's New with Gemini 3 Flash

Gemini 3 Flash replaces Gemini 2.5 Flash as the default model in the Gemini app worldwide. This means that all free users will now automatically benefit from the enhanced Gemini 3 experience.

For Google Search, Gemini 3 Flash is also being deployed globally as the default model for AI Mode, starting today.

Developers can access Gemini 3 Flash in preview via the Gemini API. This includes availability through platforms like Google AI Studio, Google Antigravity, Vertex AI, Gemini Enterprise, and development tools such as Gemini CLI and Android Studio.

Pricing Details

According to Google's Gemini API pricing documentation, Gemini 3 Flash is priced at $0.50 per million input tokens and $3.00 per million output tokens.

For comparison, Gemini 2.5 Flash was listed at $0.30 per million input tokens and $2.50 per million output tokens on the same pricing page.

Google states that Gemini 3 Flash uses 30% fewer tokens on average than Gemini 2.5 Pro for typical tasks. Third-party benchmarking also suggests it is "3x faster" compared to 2.5 Pro.

Why This Update Matters

The shift to Gemini 3 Flash as the default model in the Gemini app provides users with access to a more advanced language model at no additional cost. For developers, Gemini 3 Flash presents a compelling new option for high-volume workflows, offering significant performance improvements at rates well below the Pro-tier models.

Looking Ahead

Gemini 3 Flash is actively rolling out now. Additionally, in the U.S., Gemini 3 Pro remains available through the AI Mode model menu within Google Search for those seeking its advanced capabilities.
