Google is rolling out an experimental AI-powered email assistant named "CC" through its Google Labs initiative. Designed to enhance user productivity, CC leverages the power of Gemini to provide daily summaries and help manage tasks directly from your inbox. This new tool is currently being tested with eligible AI Pro and Ultra plan subscribers in North America.

The "CC" assistant seamlessly integrates with your existing Google accounts, including Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar. Its primary function is to deliver a personalized "Your Day Ahead" email brief. This daily digest summarizes your upcoming tasks, calendar events, and important updates drawn from these connected services, aiming to keep users informed and organized.

Beyond receiving automated daily digests, users can actively interact with CC. By replying to or sending emails to the assistant, you can issue various commands. These include adding new to-do items, teaching it your personal preferences, noting down reminders, or searching for specific information across your integrated Google services.

Access to the experimental CC email-based AI assistant is currently limited. It is exclusively available to Google AI Pro and Ultra plan users who are 18 years or older in the United States and Canada. Google has specified that this feature is intended only for consumer Google accounts and is not yet supported for Google Workspace accounts.

The landscape of AI-powered email and productivity assistants is continually expanding. Similar tools in the market include Sequoia-backed Mindy, which started as an email assistant before shifting its focus to the creator and marketing space. Other services like Read AI and Fireflies offer daily briefs, often generated from meeting notes, though they might not provide the comprehensive context from email and Drive that CC offers. Additionally, Huxe, an audio app developed by former Google NotebookLM creators, provides a unique daily brief in podcast format, drawing data from users' emails, calendars, and news preferences.
