Robot vacuum manufacturer Narwal made a significant splash at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), unveiling its latest lineup of smart vacuum cleaners equipped with advanced AI capabilities. Headlining the release is the new Flow 2 robot vacuum, designed not only for superior cleaning but also to act as an intelligent home assistant, offering features like pet monitoring, identifying valuable lost items such as jewelry, and discreetly notifying users about misplaced toys.

The flagship Narwal Flow 2 boasts a sleek, rounded design and user-friendly easy-lift tanks for efficient maintenance. At its core, the device utilizes two 1080p RGB cameras, offering a wide 136-degree field of view to meticulously map out its environment. These cameras work in tandem with sophisticated AI models, enabling the vacuum to recognize and differentiate various objects. Narwal states that this advanced tech stack allows the Flow 2 to identify an unlimited number of items. The system prioritizes local object identification, but if a match isn't found, data is securely sent to the cloud for further processing.

AI-Powered Modes for Enhanced Home Management

The Flow 2 distinguishes itself with three specialized AI-driven modes: Pet Care, Baby Care, and AI Floor Tag. Each mode offers unique functionalities to cater to diverse household needs:

  • Pet Care Mode: Users can define specific zones where pets frequently rest or play, ensuring targeted cleaning. Beyond cleaning, the vacuum can actively monitor pets and even facilitate two-way audio communication, though Narwal humorously notes there's no guarantee pets will listen.
  • Baby Care Mode: This mode automatically switches the vacuum to a quiet operation when near a baby's crib and alerts parents to any misplaced toys, helping maintain a peaceful environment.
  • AI Floor Tag Mode: For valuable possessions, this mode intelligently recognizes delicate items like jewelry, meticulously avoids them during cleaning, and sends alerts to the user, preventing accidental damage or loss.

Advanced Cleaning and Additional Innovations

Beyond its intelligent monitoring, Narwal's newest robot vacuum offers four distinct cleaning modes capable of identifying various types of dirt. The device demonstrates impressive autonomy by returning to its base to wash its mop and then resuming cleaning a specific dirty area if needed. Narwal emphasizes that the Flow 2’s design supports a higher hot water washing temperature, contributing to a more thorough and hygienic clean.

Alongside the Flow 2, Narwal also showcased other innovative cleaning solutions at CES. This included the U50 handheld vacuum, weighing a mere 1.41kg (3.1 lbs), which features UV-C sterilization and heat treatment for effective allergen removal. Additionally, the company previewed an unnamed cordless vacuum boasting a slim design, 360-degree swivel, and an impressive run time of up to 50 minutes. This cordless model further enhances user convenience with an auto-empty station capable of holding up to 60 days' worth of dust.
