May 2025 Layoffs
Amazon
Amazon reportedly laid off around 100 employees in its devices and services division, impacting teams working on Alexa, Echo, Ring, and Zoox. This adds to the approximately 27,000 workforce reductions since the start of 2022.
Microsoft
Microsoft will cut over 6,500 jobs, impacting 3% of its global workforce. This is one of the company's largest layoff rounds since cutting 10,000 employees in 2023.
Chegg
Chegg plans to lay off 248 employees (22% of its workforce) to reduce costs and improve efficiency. The edtech company has seen declining web traffic as students increasingly use AI tools.
Match
Match is reducing its workforce by 13% in a reorganization effort to cut costs, improve margins, and streamline its structure.
CrowdStrike
