Cellebrite Boosts Mobile Security with $170M Corellium Acquisition

Cellebrite, a leading provider of mobile forensics solutions, is acquiring mobile testing startup Corellium for $170 million in cash. An additional $20 million will convert to equity at the closing of the deal.

This acquisition strengthens Cellebrite's capabilities in identifying mobile vulnerabilities and developing exploits. The Israel-based company utilizes vulnerabilities, including zero-day exploits, to unlock encrypted data on smartphones.

Corellium's Virtual Device Platform Key to Acquisition

Corellium offers a cloud-based platform for virtualized Android and iOS devices. This platform allows for app and security testing, a service that Apple previously challenged legally.

A Cellebrite spokesperson confirmed the deal is expected to close later this year, pending review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). This committee assesses corporate deals that could impact national security.

The acquisition will enable Cellebrite to enhance its mobile security offerings and expand its footprint in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape.
