Google Launches Lyria RealTime Music AI API

Google announced at Google I/O 2025 the launch of Lyria RealTime, its AI music model, through the Gemini API and AI Studio platform. This model powers the experimental music app, MusicFX DJ, and offers developers new creative possibilities.

Lyria RealTime allows users to manipulate various aspects of AI-generated music. Control key, tempo, brightness, instruments, and even blend genres to achieve unique soundscapes. This provides a high level of control over song characteristics and elements.

This release comes amidst a surge in AI-powered music applications like Udio, Suno, and Riffusion. While some AI music tools have faced copyright controversies, Google positions Lyria RealTime as a collaborative tool. It empowers users to interactively create, control, and perform high-quality (48kHz stereo) music.

Google has not yet disclosed pricing details for the Lyria RealTime API. More information is expected soon. This new API offers exciting potential for developers and musicians exploring the future of music creation.
