LoveJack: A Fresh Approach to Online Dating

Tired of endless dating app profiles? LoveJack offers a unique solution. This innovative dating app lets users connect through just five words. Forget lengthy bios and superficial swiping. LoveJack encourages creativity and sparks intriguing conversations from the start.

How LoveJack Works

LoveJack profiles display five words chosen by potential matches. Intrigued? Press and hold the screen to reveal their profile picture. These five words can be anything: personality traits, inside jokes, current moods, or even lunch ingredients! This unique approach encourages witty banter and deeper connections.

Ditch the Resume, Embrace the Wordplay

LoveJack co-founders Julia LeStage and Lisa Le were frustrated with traditional dating apps that resemble job applications. "This is not LinkedIn. Where has the fun gone?" LeStage told TechCrunch. LoveJack aims to bring the fun back to online dating by moving away from generic questions and overused pickup lines.

Inspired by the five-word acceptance speeches at the Webby Awards and the wordplay of Wordle, LeStage tested the five-word concept on her own dates. She found that these words revealed a person's way of thinking and sparked engaging conversations. "It's the stories behind the words that matter," she explained.

Unique Features to Enhance Your Dating Experience

  • Bet On a Match: Instead of simply "liking" a profile, users "Bet On" a match by crafting a five-word opening line.
  • Hold for Later: Unsure about a profile? The "Hold" feature lets you bookmark it for later consideration.
  • Daily Updates: Users can update their five words daily, adding a dynamic and social element to the app.
  • Limited Matches: With a maximum of five matches per day, users are encouraged to be thoughtful in their choices.

Prioritizing Safety and Authenticity

LoveJack prioritizes user safety with features like selfie verification, reporting and blocking capabilities, and censorship of inappropriate content. While users are encouraged to use pseudonyms for initial privacy, the verification process ensures authenticity. An emergency feature connecting users to safety hotlines and police is also planned.

LoveJack's iOS app launches next month in London, followed by a U.S. rollout in cities like Boston, New York, and San Francisco. An Android version will launch in India later this summer. Join the waiting list for early access today at lovejack.app.
