Meta Opens Marketing API for Threads Ads
Meta has expanded its Marketing API to support Threads feed ads. This update allows third-party platforms to create and manage Threads ad campaigns, streamlining the process for businesses.
This change simplifies ad creation and management for social media management platforms and ad networks. Users will see no difference in ad placement or frequency within their Threads feeds.
On May 19, 2025, we're expanding Marketing API support to include ads in Threads. Ads in Threads can help you extend your existing ad campaigns to the growing community on Threads.
Threads Feed Ad Specs and Requirements
The "Threads feed" placement lets advertisers extend their campaigns using existing ad creatives. Supported objectives include Reach, Traffic, and Website Conversions.
Key details for Threads feed ads:
- Appear between organic content in the Threads home feed.
- Objectives: Reach, Traffic, and Website Conversions.
- Require a Threads profile for ad creation.
- Cannot be run in isolation; must be selected alongside Instagram feed placement.
- Support single image ads with aspect ratios from 16:9 to 9:16 (taller ratios will be center-cropped).
- Third-party comment moderation is not currently supported.
Advertisers need to grant app permissions to read an Instagram-connected Threads account profile's information and media.
Reaching Threads' Growing Audience
This expansion provides more opportunities to reach Threads' 350 million users. With a significant portion of Threads profiles following businesses, this presents a valuable opportunity for brands with the right strategy.
