Unlocking 100+ GW of Hidden Data Center Capacity

Data center developers face significant hurdles connecting to power grids, hindering expansion plans. Gridcare offers a solution by identifying untapped grid capacity, enabling faster data center deployments.

The Connectivity Challenge

Hyperscalers are eager to expand computing power, but grid connections often involve multi-year delays. This has driven many to explore expensive "behind the meter" power solutions.

“All the AI data centers are struggling to get connected. They're so desperate. They are looking for solutions, which may or may not happen. Certainly not in the five year timelines they cite.” - Amit Narayan, Founder and CEO of Gridcare

Gridcare's AI-Powered Solution

Gridcare leverages AI to analyze existing grid infrastructure and forecast future changes. By considering factors like fiber optic availability, natural gas, water resources, weather patterns, permitting processes, and community sentiment, Gridcare pinpoints hidden capacity.

After mapping the grid and applying AI forecasting, Gridcare verifies its findings with utility companies, ensuring compliance with federal regulations.

“There are 200,000-plus scenarios that you have to consider every time you’re running this study.” - Amit Narayan

Matchmaking Data Centers with Capacity

Gridcare collaborates with both data center developers and utility companies to match needs with available resources. The company charges developers a fee based on the megawatts unlocked, a cost-effective solution compared to building independent power infrastructure.

Unlocking Significant Potential

Gridcare believes its approach can unlock over 100 gigawatts of hidden capacity. This could involve data centers briefly utilizing on-site backup power or incentivizing new grid-scale battery installations. The company is also exploring auctioning access to this newfound capacity with utility partners.

Funding and Future Growth

Gridcare recently secured a $13.5 million seed round led by Xora, Temasek’s deep tech venture firm, with participation from various investors including Acclimate Ventures, Aina Climate AI Ventures, Breakthrough Energy Discovery, Clearvision, Clocktower Ventures, Overture Ventures, Sherpalo Ventures, and WovenEarth. This funding will support Gridcare's mission to address the growing demand for data center capacity.

By optimizing grid utilization, Gridcare aims to accelerate data center development and support the growth of the digital economy.
