WhatsApp Boosts Status with Creative Features
WhatsApp has rolled out new creative tools for its Status feature, offering users more ways to express themselves and engage their contacts. These updates include enhanced music sharing, photo stickers, and a new layout collage option.
New Layout Collage and Music Stickers
The updated Layout tool now allows users to combine up to six images into a single collage within their Status updates. Users have full control over image placement, offering flexible presentation formats.
Music sharing gets a boost with the ability to create music stickers. Users can now turn songs into stickers and add them to their Status posts, similar to adding a selfie.

This builds upon the music sharing feature launched in March, which enables users to add popular music clips to their Status updates. WhatsApp is also testing integration with Spotify, potentially making the platform a significant driver of music promotion.

Photo Stickers and "Add Yours" Prompt
WhatsApp now lets users create photo stickers directly from their images. Similar to Instagram's functionality, users can adjust the sticker size within the Status composer, providing more creative freedom.
WhatsApp is also introducing its own version of the "Add Yours" sticker. This feature encourages interaction by allowing users to prompt their contacts to respond to a specific theme or question via their own Status updates.
Choose a picture and use the Add Yours sticker to invite friends to the conversation. When they respond, they can share it to their status and see what their community has to say.
Expanding Reach and Functionality
These updates come as WhatsApp continues to grow, particularly in the U.S., where it now boasts over 100 million users. With over 3 billion active users globally, WhatsApp holds a significant market advantage for Meta in deploying new features to a vast audience.
While these updates may seem incremental, they represent significant advancements in WhatsApp's evolution as a communication platform, offering new opportunities for both Meta and its users.
