Deezer has officially launched "My Deezer Year 2025", its annual music recap feature, positioning itself as an early contender against popular rivals like Spotify Wrapped. Released on Monday, this personalized summary provides listeners with a comprehensive overview of their favorite songs, artists, albums, and genres from the past year, beating other major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music to the punch.

The "My Deezer Year" feature delivers a detailed breakdown of individual listening habits. Users can explore their top tracks, most-played artists, favorite albums, and even quantify the total time spent enjoying their most-listened artist and best-loved song.

A Rom-Com Journey Through Your Music

This year's edition introduces a novel "romantic comedy" theme for its visual presentation. Deezer aims to immerse users in their musical journey, making them feel like the star of their own rom-com, complete with scenes reminiscent of a "meet cute." The platform narrates this story as users navigate through their recap, teasing plot twists along the way.

The experience is thoughtfully divided into three episodes:

  • "Meet Cute": Highlights the new artists users discovered throughout the year.
  • "Love Triangle": Features users' top three artists.
  • "Happily Ever After": Showcases their favorite tracks, along with a personalized playlist for continued listening.

This interactive storytelling approach marks a departure from "My Deezer Year 2024," which offered a different interactive experience, inviting users to choose between being "roasted" or "hyped up" based on their music preferences.

New Interactive Quizzes for Everyone

Similar to previous years, this year's recap also includes a personalized quiz where users can answer compatibility questions based on their musical tastes and share results with friends to find their "musical matches."

Additionally, for the first time, non-Deezer users can create their own quizzes. By entering their favorite genre, three songs, and a top artist, they can see which friends match their preferences. This strategic move is likely intended to encourage wider adoption of the app and boost social media sharing.

"My Deezer Year 2025" is now available within the Deezer app on both iOS and Android devices. Deezer also released some interesting global statistics, highlighting that on average, its users listened to 122.8 hours of music over the past year, streaming over 691 songs from 402 artists, and discovering 357 new tracks.
