Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles to Race at Indy 500
Oscar Mayer is bringing its iconic Wienermobiles to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for a unique race. On May 23rd, two days before the Indianapolis 500, all six Wienermobiles will compete in the "Wienie 500." This event marks the start of Oscar Mayer's "Summer of Wieners" campaign.
The Wienie 500 will be streamed live on the Fox Sports App and the @IndyCarOnFox social media channels. Fans can participate in a DraftKings pool for a chance to win $10,000 by predicting the race outcome and answering related questions.
A Summer of Wieners
This race kicks off Oscar Mayer's "Summer of Wieners" campaign, connecting the Kraft Heinz brand with the start of summer and the excitement of the Indianapolis 500. This sporting event is known for high hot dog consumption, making it a fitting venue for the promotion.
“As a brand known for sparking smiles in disarmingly delightful ways, it’s only fitting that we bring a race of epic proportions to the Speedway and celebrate a timeless tradition: delicious meats and a little friendly competition to kick off a summer of wieners,” said Kelsey Rice, Brand Communications Director at Oscar Mayer.
This is the first time in over a decade that all six Wienermobiles will be together, and their first competitive race. Each Wienermobile will represent a different region of the U.S., with drivers (known as "Hotdoggers") sporting custom racing suits. The winner will receive a trophy and a celebratory spray of mustard in the "Wiener's Circle."
Oscar Mayer is the official hot dog of both the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Indianapolis 500. The campaign is a collaborative effort with Johannes Leonardo, The Kitchen, Carat, and Zeno.
This latest stunt follows a series of creative promotions featuring the Wienermobile, including its transformation into a wedding chapel, a brief rebranding as the "Frankmobile," and its use as a mobile billboard to address gender disparity in Hollywood.
Oscar Mayer, part of the Kraft Heinz portfolio, has seen significant growth recently, achieving a 10% increase in gross profit dollars in 2024, according to CEO Carlos Abrams-Rivera.
