Surf Makes Building Custom Social Feeds Easy
Flipboard's Surf app simplifies creating personalized social media feeds. With new Starter Sets, users can easily curate content based on their interests. Instead of algorithm-driven timelines, Surf empowers users to control their online experience.
Starter Sets for Simple Feed Creation
Starter Sets streamline the process of building custom feeds. These pre-populated sets offer various categories like hobbies, sports, and communities. Users can personalize these sets by adding or removing sources.
Previously, tools like Graze and SkyFeed allowed custom feed building, but catered to more technical users. Surf's Starter Sets are designed for everyone, regardless of technical skill.
Curate Content from Across the Web
Surf, launched in beta last year, builds on Flipboard's mission of web curation. It aggregates content from open social networks like Bluesky, Mastodon, and Pixelfed, alongside blogs, podcasts, and RSS feeds. Users can even integrate their own Mastodon or Bluesky accounts and filter by topic.
A new feature allows publishing custom feeds to Bluesky, further extending content reach.
How Starter Sets Work
Choosing a Starter Set, like "Hobbies," presents various subtopics such as cycling, gaming, and books. Users can add sources within these subtopics and refine their feeds with filters. This granular control ensures feeds remain focused on desired content.
Surf is currently invite-only, but regularly accepts new users from its waitlist. Join the waitlist to experience a more personalized social media experience.
